Danfoss Editron Oy and Lappeenrannan Yritystila Oy have signed an agreement under which Lappeenrannan Yritystila will build and lease a new production and office building for Danfoss Editron in Lappeenranta. Construction of the state-of-the-art, carbon-neutral plant will start in August 2025 and will be completed for Danfoss Editron's use by the end of 2026.

Danfoss Editron is part of Danfoss, a Danish family-owned company operating in more than 100 countries. Danfoss Editron manufactures efficient hybrid and fully electric powertrain systems for heavy-duty and commercial vehicles and machines and marine vessels in Lappeenranta, Finland. The electrification of the world plays a key role in combating climate change, as it reduces dependence on fossil fuels and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. Danfoss Editron is at the forefront of this development, designing electric solutions in Lappeenranta to meet customer needs globally.

Danfoss Editron has nearly 200 employees in Lappeenranta, working in five different locations in the city. With the new production and office building, all employees now move into the same building, which promotes teamwork, communication and the building of shared culture at Danfoss Editron.

"I am very excited to see this project come to fruition, as it has been awaited by the Editron Lappeenranta community for many years. The project is about creating a safe, collaborative and innovative working environment and culture and building a world-class production facility for Danfoss Editron,” says Giuliano Facchini, Managing Director, Editron Lappeenranta.

“Our Lappeenranta site is a critical hub for Danfoss Editron's business and ambitious growth strategy. Our new campus will feature a CO2-neutral footprint, enabling us to establish a world-class manufacturing plant and a Global Engineering Center for our High-Voltage Electrification Solutions. This will strengthen our ability to better serve our European customers with exceptional service, innovation, and a high-performing team,” says Roy Chen, President of Danfoss Editron Division.

"The new modern premises create good conditions and prerequisites for Danfoss Editron’s own growth goals and, in particular, bring more industrial jobs to Lappeenranta," says Tuomo Sallinen, Mayor of Lappeenranta.

"The project teams of the City of Lappeenranta and Lappeenrannan Yritystila Oy and Danfoss Editron Oy have worked closely together throughout the planning phase, and the work continues. The construction phase is expected to begin in August 2025, with the goal of moving the company's three locations under one roof in the new premises by the end of 2026,” explains Lassi Nurmi, acting property manager of Lappeenrannan Yritystila Oy.

The new facilities will provide a world-class production environment for High-Voltage Solutions. The building will also house a R&D hub for pre-serialized production and new production development, as well as a test center.

Danfoss will be involved in the design of the production and office building. The building will use Danfoss components and products as much as possible, for example for the heat recovery of the exhaust and supply air of the production process. The factory building will be carbon neutral from the first day, as district heating in the city of Lappeenranta is CO2 neutral.

The new production and office building has a gross floor area of approximately 8200 gross square meters, and the building will be located in the industrial and production area of Lappeenranta City Airport. The value of the building investment is EUR 18.6 million.
