Danfoss’ Leanheat® Building helps Avain deliver energy-efficient heating to residents throughout Finland

Avain has installed Danfoss' modern SCADA solution, Leanheat® Building in over 100 new and renovated residential properties containing nearly 3,000 apartments.

Leanheat^® Building uses data provided by sensors installed in the apartments to learn each building’s thermodynamics and optimize the heating accordingly. The software also adapts the heating system to changes in weather conditions and in the building’s characteristics as it ages. By fine-tuning the heating network and district heating demand response, Leanheat ensures apartment blocks and terraced houses have the highest possible energy efficiency at all times.

According to Jan Bertills, Director of Real Estate at Avain, the Leanheat® Building system offers benefits for building residents and managers.

“In 2018, we started a pilot project which showed that the Leanheat® Building can save up to 10% of the energy used for district heating annually.This is good news for residents, as they benefit from a constant temperature and savings on heating costs. This, in turn, leads to lower management costs and lower heating bills. In these times of energy scarcity, we all need to save energy and, by extension, the environment," he says.
