Meet the all-new DSP MOD@ substation
DSP stands for ‘Danfoss Substation Prefabricated’, highlighting the fact that you get a substation that is easy to install and that complies with 90% of the typical district heating network technical connection requirements. MOD@ stands for ‘modular and digital’, meaning you get a substation that’s flexible, easy to configure and works seamlessly with our digital district heating network product portfolio.
You can use DSP MOD@ substations:
- in indirect heating applications with single or double heat exchanger applications.
- for heating multi-family homes and commercial and industrial buildings.
- together with a centralized domestic hot water (DHW) system or heat interface unit that you can connect to the substation’s secondary side.
Features and benefits
A substation built to optimize heating system performance:
The ECL Comfort 310 controller featuring weather compensation, data logging and alarm monitoring.
Micro Plate™ heat exchangers improve heat transfer efficiency, performance, and flow distribution, while reducing pressure loss by 35%. The heat exchanger’s unique, patented dimple design enhances heat transfer performance by up to 10% when compared to the traditional fishbone design.
AHRI-certified gasketed heat exchangers improve low load control and minimize energy consumption.
The new Virtus iSET intelligent pressure independent control valves (PICV) provide stable control and reduce return temperature.
Works seamlessly with Danfoss Leanheat® Monitoring and Titan™ to further optimize energy efficiency and lower the return temperature in district heating networks.

Installation, service and maintenance made easy
The substation’s compact, lightweight modular design makes it easy to transport into the heating room.
Its fixed design and flexible connection possibilities make it easy to mount on the floor and prepare pipes before installation.
The standard station layout makes it easy to access all key components for maintenance and servicing.
The substation is equipped with high-quality Danfoss components, which have been tested, approved, and optimized for safe, reliable operations in district heating networks. The substation and heat exchangers are manufactured according to the European Pressure Directive PED 2014/68/EU and Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
Each substation comes with a user-friendly installation and service book and is covered by a full warranty issued by Danfoss.
Modular, digital, and ready!
