Mixing shunts

  • Overview

Danfoss FHM mixing shunts are used for regulating the correct flow and supply temperature in hydronic floor heating systems. They are designed to fit our FH type manifolds and together create a compact, low-temperature floor heating distribution unit.

The mixing shunts accurately mix warm water provided from the heat source and the cooler water returning from the floor heating system. As a result, the supply temperature for the floor heating system is regulated to the desired temperature.

There are different mixing shunts to choose from. They vary in terms of capacity and circulation pump. A possible safety thermostat protects the floor against excessively high temperatures and the electronic variable speed pump adjusts itself for correct flow in the circuits. A standard 3-speed pump is also available. The built-in check valve ensures correct flow direction. An air vent on top and a thermometer in the supply completes the mixing shunt.

The compact design and flexibility allows mounting of the mixing shunt directly to the manifold on either the left or right side. The primary supply and return pipe connections can come from the side or below.

Midishunts

Where the FHM compact mixing shunts are mostly used for floor heating systems containing multiple circuits, Danfoss also offers even smaller midishunts. These are designed for 1 to 3 floor heating circuits and contain both a small mixing shunt as well as 1, 2 or 3 group manifolds and CF2+ wireless control system Master Controller, all pre-assembled.

Features and benefits

Made-to-match manifolds: The dimensions of the manifolds and mixing shunts match exactly, so that you can establish a low-temperature floor heating distribution unit according to your needs.

Compact dimensions: The dimensions of both the mixing shunts and FH manifolds establish a very compact distribution unit which can be fitted into small spaces.

Pre-assembled midishunt: The easiest way to establish a small floor heating system. It only requires connection to the main supply and return pipe and assigning one or more CF2+ room thermostats to control the room temperature.
