NORDBORG, Denmark – Danfoss Power Solutions’ Thorx™ CLM 8 S cam lobe motor has been named the winner in the Fluid Power category of OEM Off-Highway magazine’s 2023 Top New Products award. The publication’s annual award program highlights the ingenuity of today’s design teams and showcases the innovation behind some of the latest product launches in the mobile on- and off-road equipment manufacturing space.
The Thorx cam lobe motor was recognized for its better performance, higher efficiency, and longer lifetime than other cam lobe motors on the market. Features highlighted by the magazine include the motor’s:
- New two-speed technology, which offers 70% shock reduction when shifting speeds compared to other cam lobe motors. The technology delivers a smooth, quick, consistent response, regardless of temperature, resulting in superior machine handling and operator comfort.
- Compact construction. The motor is 33% shorter in length than other cam lobe motors, which enables easier integration and assembly as well as the use of larger, longer-lasting chains.
- Integral parking brake, which lasts 20-25 times longer than traditional technology.
- Efficiency. The motor offers 5% higher efficiency than other cam lobe motors, with better starting and high-speed efficiency.

In addition to OEM Off-Highway’s Top New Products award, the Thorx cam lobe motor was recognized as the silver award winner in the Fluid Power category of the 2023 LEAP (Leadership in Engineering Achievement Program) Awards. Sponsored by WTWH Media, publishers of Fluid Power World and Design World magazines, the program celebrates the most innovative and forward-thinking products serving the design engineering space. The motor was also named a finalist in the Powertrain Product of the Year category in the 2023 Diesel Progress Summit awards.
