Danfoss Power Solutions Expands Display Module Series with Qt-Based UI Development for Enhanced Design Flexibility and Faster Time to Market

NORDBORG, Denmark – Danfoss Power Solutions today announced the expansion of its Display Module (DM) series with the launch of the Qt-powered DM series, a new line of programmable displays that combines Qt Framework with the PLUS+1® Toolchain to streamline UI development and deployment. This integration enhances design flexibility while enabling a more efficient, scalable development workflow for industrial and off-highway vehicle applications.

The combination of the PLUS+1® Toolchain and Qt Framework provides a powerful set of tools for building modern, high-performance graphical user interfaces. By leveraging Qt technology, developers can design rich, interactive UIs with improved workflow efficiency. UI elements created in Qt Design Studio can be seamlessly integrated with the PLUS+1 GUIDE development environment, ensuring a smooth transition from UI design to application programming and deployment.

This combination allows developers to shorten development cycles, reduce complexity, and bring products to market faster. In addition to GUI development in Qt Design Studio, application logic continues to be managed within PLUS+1 GUIDE, maintaining a familiar and robust development process for Danfoss customers.

In addition to faster, easier UI design, Qt Framework enables reuse of UI Designs and functionalities across multiple device platforms. Elements of the UI design can be scaled per application requirements, eliminating the need to create new UI designs from scratch for each different machine platform or screen size. Application programming remains within PLUS+1 GUIDE, and the PLUS+1 Service Tool combines Qt-created graphics with application code to add even more flexibility when customizing DM displays. Danfoss will continue to offer its standard DM displays with UI design managed in VBSE, Danfoss’ proprietary graphics development tool.

“Designing graphical user interfaces for our DM displays using Qt takes about 50% less time compared to other programs, thanks to its extensive library of preexisting elements and a seamless workflow between design and development,” said Herman Oberoi, Senior Portfolio Manager, Displays, Danfoss Power Solutions. “By supporting the industry standard solution for UI development, we now have a great hardware product with incredible design capabilities powered by Qt.”

The Qt-powered DM series retains the same rugged, high-performance design as Danfoss' standard DM displays, offering 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch screen sizes. These displays feature superior sunlight readability, wide-angle viewing, automatic brightness adjustment, enhanced touch responsiveness, and high ingress protection ratings for durability in demanding environments.
