Danfoss at IDRA World Congress 2024
Danfoss experts will be on hand at this year’s IDRA World Congress in Abu Dhabi to showcase energy-efficient pumps and energy recovery devices that can help address water scarcity while supporting decarbonization efforts.
Energy-efficient solutions for water scarcity
The IDRA World Congress gathers global experts in the areas of water reuse, desalination and energy to discuss how we can work together to address global water challenges in a sustainable manner. “The need for clean water has never been greater, and climate change-induced flooding and droughts are only exacerbating an already critical issue,” says Francisco Jiménez-Castellanos Lucena.
“Desalination by means of seawater reverse osmosis is one of the most effective means of addressing water scarcity, but it is highly energy intensive. At Danfoss, we are committed to reducing the energy cost of reverse osmosis, and at this year’s IDRA we’ll show how our energy-efficient pumps, energy recovery devices and AC drives do that.”
Congress attendees can meet with Danfoss experts at booth B34-35 to learn more about the company’s product line for desalination and wastewater reuse, including its range of APP high-pressure pumps and iSave energy recovery devices for seawater reverse osmosis plants of all sizes. Booth visitors can also speak with Danfoss representatives about the most energy-efficient way of tackling concrete projects and challenges.

Georg has held the role of Director of Innovation at Danfoss High Pressure Pumps since 2017. He is responsible for new technology scouting and maturation, R&D activities and new product development. Prior to joining Danfoss, Georg worked in the wind industry with Vestas. He holds several patents, as well as a PhD in Physics within the field of atomic scale studies of metal oxide surfaces from the University of Aarhus.
Francisco leads the international strategy and market development for the desalination sector. With over 12 years of extensive experience in pumps and mechanical seals, he has supported desalination, water and power industries. Previously, Francisco spent 9 years at Flowserve in leadership positions across both new equipment and aftermarket business segments.
Michael has 25+ years of global leadership experience within petrochemicals and water industries. He joined Danfoss as VP of High-Pressure Pumps – a BU focusing on high-quality, energy efficient pumps and energy recovery solutions for the global water sector – in 2019. Prior to Danfoss, Michael spent 20+ years with polymer company Borealis and its ADNOC joint venture Borouge, holding senior positions within Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain and JV Management. He has lived and worked in Germany, Belgium, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and now resides in Denmark.
