Designed for Excavators

At the core of each Dextreme system is the Danfoss Digital Displacement pump, the first and only truly digitally controlled hydraulic pump for off-highway machinery. The pump's dedicated digital controller activates each piston individually, providing fast and accurate response to system demand, enabling superior machine controllability. The pump provides unmatched full and part load efficiency by using only the pistons needed to meet the load.

The incremental aspect of Dextreme systems minimizes risk for excavator OEMs now while positioning them as long-term leaders with a cost-effective system pathway to significant decarbonization.

Dextreme SWAP

Dextreme SWAP offers software configurable excavator working modes – switchable at a fingertip. The fast response of the Digital Displacement® pump allows for optimal torque control of the engine.

More useful work can be done in Productivity mode. Or more fuel can be saved in Fuel saving mode by running the engine at lower speeds and without compromising on productivity.

Dextreme FLEX

With a Dextreme FLEX system, the Digital Displacement® pump (DDP) meets the hydraulic system demands of the excavator in the most efficient possible way. The flexible allocation of the DDP outlets results in minimized main control valve (MCV) losses.

In Fuel saving mode, Dextreme FLEX unlocks an unprecedented 30% lower fuel consumption in excavators – without compromising on productivity.

FAQ

With Dextreme systems, the excavator hydraulics is powered with a Digital Displacement® pump, which reduces losses in different system components.

  • The Swap system improves the efficiency of the main pump as well as the engine use.
  • The Flex system minimizes even more the excavator losses, specifically in the main control valve thanks to a flexible pump allocation.

Dextreme systems can minimize fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and/or maximize productivity of excavators. Either way, our customers and their end customers achieve more with less. This allows the industry to recover a Dextreme system in a short payback period.

No matter the energy source (diesel, electric, hydrogen), Dextreme systems improve the TCO of excavators.

With the simple Dextreme Swap system, you benefit from 15% fuel savings by only replacing the pump and adding a digital pump controller. This system is also suitable for retrofit opportunities. Also, OEMs are partnering with Danfoss to apply even more advanced system architectures such as Dextreme Flex.

Excavators account for 50% of all CO2 emissions generated by construction machinery. And within excavators, around 90% of CO2 emissions come from machines of ten tons or more. Focusing on energy efficiency is the fastest and cheapest way to achieve decarbonization. Dextreme systems optimize efficiency of medium and large excavator without compromising productivity.
