Recommended by IIAR as an additional measure to prevent refrigerant releases via pressure relief valves, Danfoss' Emergency Pressure Control System (EPCS) detects system pressures that may activate pressure relief valves and shuts down compressors and discharges compressor suction via a bypass valve. This process reduces system pressure and averts any potential ammonia release.

EPCS must be completely independent of all refrigeration control systems.
