Busan, Korea – July 2024 – Danfoss Drives recently concluded a successful four-day marine electrification training program in Busan, Korea, from July 16th to 19th, 2024. The event welcomed over 40 marine partners and system integrators from the Asia Pacific and India regions.
The Asia Pacific and India region is experiencing a surge in demand for marine electrification, driven by factors such as:
- Government Regulations: Stringent emission control regulations are pushing the adoption of cleaner marine propulsion systems.
- Environmental Concerns: Growing awareness of the environmental impact of traditional marine vessels is fueling the shift towards sustainable alternatives.
- Economic Benefits: Electric vessels offer lower operating costs (fuel, maintenance) and potential subsidies in some regions.
- Technological Advancements: Improvements in battery technology, electric propulsion systems, and charging infrastructure are making electrification more feasible.
To address these needs, Danfoss Drives provides a comprehensive portfolio of solutions tailored for marine electrification such as electric propulsion systems, medium-voltage drives, energy management systems, software and control, local expertise and support.
The training program focused on enhancing technical expertise in marine electrification solutions. Participants gained valuable knowledge about electric propulsion systems, commissioning processes, the Editron system, Danfoss medium-voltage drives, energy-saving calculation tools, and more. Real-world case studies featuring local marine applications bridged the gap between theory and practical implementation.
Beyond technical knowledge, the training fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange among attendees, creating a strong foundation for future success in the region's rapidly growing marine electrification sector.
The program included a visit to the Korea Maritime University's marine test bench, a collaborative project with Danfoss, and a tour of a hybrid vessel. Participants also toured the DriveForce factory, a Danfoss Korea Partner, gaining insights into the latest iC7 Liquid Cooled Drives and their marine applications.
"This event underscores our commitment to expanding our marine business within the region," stated Dong-Yeong Ryu, Asia Pacific & India Marine Electrification Sales Leader for Danfoss Drives. "By bolstering competency and confidence, we empower our partners and system integrators to spearhead marine electrification efforts. We are excited to witness their progress and remain dedicated to supporting their continued success."
