HVACR service technicians don't have it easy. Long hours, challenging repairs, and ever-shifting regulations are just a few of the factors that make working in air conditioning and refrigeration a complex affair. Nobody understands that better than Jamie Kitchen. After all, he's been training service techs for over twenty years — in the classroom and out in the field.
According to Jamie, the best technicians are the ones who don't lean on their existing knowledge and skill set. Instead, they seek out new techniques, trends, and products to stay on the cutting edge.
But time is precious and there is a lot of content to stay on top of.
The HVACR Distillery, a new series available on the DanfossCool YouTube channel, distills all that info down to core essentials. This gives field service techs a trusted, reliable place to get all the industry information they need.
Jamie launched the series' pilot episode last summer to test the waters and see if technicians were interested in tips and tricks that would help them become more proficient in their daily work. The response was overwhelming. Thousands tuned into the launch episode, which focused on compressors, and then returned for later installments. With every release, Jamie was waiting in the comments, ready to answer questions and connect with his audience.
"It's great to be able to channel my years of experience into a video format like this and give service techs something they can learn from and relax to. It also sparks interesting questions, which forces me to dig deep into my own experience to find the best explanation. The audience really keeps me on my toes," Jamie said.
There are currently four episodes available, and several more are in production. The next one is planned for release in early April.
